The microbiome represents an exciting frontier in medicine, and early successes in the field have demonstrated the dynamic interactions among individual microbial species and highlighted the crosstalk between microbiota and their hosts at the mucosal interface.
In this talk, I will present our work in interrogating and manipulating commensal bacteria and probiotics as therapeutic platforms to promote human health.

Jiahe Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The Li research group focuses on developing molecular and live cell-based therapeutics, with a significant emphasis on using bioconjugation chemistry, synthetic biology, and microbiology to interrogate and manipulate interactions between therapeutics, the microbiome, and the host. I was a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Northeastern University from 2019 to 2023 and relocated my lab to the University of Michigan in the summer of 2023.
