White Field

A 22,000-sq.-ft., $5.1 million facility, the White Field facility is part of the Institute for Flow Physics and Control. In addition to a $3 million dollar wind tunnel that features an 8-ft. diameter fan and requires a 1,750-horsepower motor, the facility houses a $.5 million compressor and a $1.8 million turbine for jet engine component testing. New facilities that are being developed at White Field are the High Enthalpy Arc Tunnel capable of hypersonic and other turbo machinery facilities.  New addition construction was completed in July 2013.
