Areas of Interest

Jonathan MacArt and his team in the Reacting Turbulence Lab are developing high-performance computational tools to better understand the interactions of flow physics with additional physical phenomena, including chemical heat release and plasma kinetics.

These tools include large-scale direct numerical simulations (DNS); modeled large–eddy simulations (LES) and Reynolds–averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) simulations; and advanced physics-constrained machine learning (ML) tools. Applications of interest span a range of engineering systems from gas turbines to hypersonic propulsion.
