Areas of Interest

Professor Prygoski strives to help students develop into strong problem solvers with an ability to extrapolate course material into future careers. In doing this, she has five main educational focuses:

  • Increasing student understanding of engineering concepts by extending course material to topics within students’ individual fields of interest
  • Increasing student metacognition and awareness of individual abilities, strengths as well as deficits by creating an environment where it’s ok to not know all of the answers while highlighting how to find those answers
  • Building students’ confidence in their problem solving abilities both in and beyond the classroom so that they have the tools to find solutions to new problems
  • Enhancing horizontal and vertical integration of content between courses to increase material synthesis
  • Creating an inclusive learning environment for all students, especially those with differential learning styles such as learning disabilities to both elevate an underserved student population as well as expose their peers to the unique strengths everyone has.
