Robert D. Neal

Adjunct Assistant Professor
Areas of Interest
Prof. Neal works closely with the First-Year Engineering program and teaches “Engineering Design” and “Engineering Programming” courses. He also teaches “Solid Mechanics” (Strength of Materials) in the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering.
Before finishing his Ph.D., he worked as a graduate researcher in the Nanomaterials Fabrication Research Lab under Dr. Svetlana Neretina at Notre Dame. His research focused on the development of enhanced fabrication/manufacturing techniques at the nanoscale for creating highly-plasmonic noble metal nanostructures used for improved nanoparticle catalysts, functional plasmonic surfaces, and enhanced sensing technologies.
