Steven H. Walker ’87, ’97, Ph.D., chief technology officer at Lockheed Martin Corp., has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Walker’s award is based on his “leadership of national security R&D at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the U.S. Air. Force.”

Walker previously served as the director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
He earned his B.S. in aerospace engineering at the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. from the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Professor Flint Thomas.
